What is SeekSire?

SeekSire is a low-density SNP chip perfect for cost-effective parental verification. Genomically parental verify sires and dams in order to make effective decisions about progeny, breed programs and bull selection.

Key uses for SeekSire:

• Assign pedigree and reduce error associated with traditional mothering up methods

• Target bull performance

  • Find more/less dominant sires

  • Identify sires potentially contributing to calf loss e.g. calving difficulties or genetic abnormalities

  • Identify sires of desirable progeny

• Confirm the parentage of accelerated reproductive programs (i.e. embryo transfer and AI calves)

• Increase the accuracy of estimated breeding values

How does SeekSire work?

Parentage is determined from a list of possible sires and dams provided by the producer. A parentage result can only be delivered on parents previously tested with SeekSire or higher genomic profile e.g. 50K or 100K.

As an alternative to SeekSire; the Core, Pro, Premium & Ultimate RePRO BI bundles all test parentage when a possible parent list is supplied.
